SEED FORUM IN ICELAND

The Seed Forum Iceland Foundation was founded in 2004 according to an initiative by the Klak Innovation Centre in Reykjavik and the UK Trade and Investment. The 1st Seed Forum Reykjavik was carried out spring 2005, making Seed Forum Reykjavik spring 2010  the 11th Seed Forum in Iceland. The President of Iceland, Mr. Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, gave the opening remarks at the 2nd Seed Forum in Iceland autumn 2005 and a number of key-note speeches have been held by representatives of the Icelandic Government and business community, including Thordur Fridjonsson, the CEO of the Iceland Stock Exchange, Guðfinna Bjarnadóttir Rector of Reykjavik University, Sigurður Einarsson, the prevsous Chairman of Kaupthing Bank, Sigurjon Arnason, the previous CEO of Landsbanki Islands and Valgerður Sverrisdóttir, previous Minister of Trade and Industry.

More than 60 Icelandic companies have so far participated in various Seed Forums since autumn 2004.

The board of Seed Forum Iceland is a broad initiative including representatives from the Klak Innovation Center, Innovation Iceland, The Reykjavik University and the Federation of Icelandic Industries. The United Kingdom Trade & Investment (UKTI) is also represented in the board.

The venues for Seed Forum Reykjavik includes the Nordica Hotel, Hotel Loftleidir the and auditorium in deCode Genetics. Seed forum Reykjavik has since spring 2008 been hosted in the main auditorium in the headquarters of the Kaupthing Bank. All of the evening receptions have been kindly hosted by the British Ambassador to Iceland in his residence. The City of Reykjavik has until spring 2009 kindly hosted evening dinners in the famous Höfði House.
